The Computational Dialogues (CODI) course explores methods to further remove barriers to coding, an essential skillset that is growing within many pedagogical circles including art and design education, and is an essential element of STEAM. Students sometimes grapple with ways in which they can explore topics outside of their domain of study, which is crucial to their knowledge growth and building of diverse relationships in their practices.
This course supports the idea that creative coding is an interdisciplinary skillset that allows
for this cross-domain curiosity to be stimulated (see Code to Learn philosophy).
Often left
to the conventional internship protocol, or
student-industry matchmaking process, Computational Dialogues provides students a space to build a
repertoire of works in a cyclical manner throughout a term, giving them real-time practice, and knowledge
building
experience to develop their abilities in computational thinking.
